Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile thin needles into particular points on the body. The purpose of this treatment is to prevent or reduce pain and to help your body function at it’s best. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as qi or chi (pronounced “CHEE”) — that flows through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners help rebalance your energy flow.
In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. This stimulation appears to boost the activity of your body’s natural painkillers and increase blood flow.
Functional Medicine
By definition, Functional Medicine addresses the Functions of the body. It gets to the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach that engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership to heal the body. This approach to medicine uses dietary changes, food-based supplements, herbal, and homeopathic remedies.
Pediatric Functional Medicine
Our office treats many children – infants through young adults. Babies that are fussy, sleepless, having thrush, etc. thrive under the care of Dr. Courtney. School age children with behavioral or focus issues are also a clinic specialty.
Nutrition counseling
Nutrition counseling includes diet change recommendations and modifications, identifying food intolerances, food journaling, detoxification, and nutrition education. We pride ourselves on the amount of knowledge we impart on our patients surrounding inflammatory foods, healing foods, recipes, replacement foods, etc. There is no “food shaming” in our office. Rather, we encourage the patient to make small dietary changes and food replacements, over time, that will result in increased energy, vitality, and optimum health.
NAET
Nambutripad’s Allergy Elimination Treatment – NAET uses a blend of energy balancing, testing and treatment procedures from acupuncture/acupressure, nutritional, and kinesiological disciplines of medicine to effectively eliminate allergies and sensitivities.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is a major aspect of traditional Chinese medicine. Additionally, herbal medicine is a perfect complement to a integrative, functional medicine program. We only use pharmaceutical quality, therapeutic strength herbs in our clinic. We continue to be amazed by the results.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to the treatment of the sick. Homeopathy is holistic because it treats the person as a whole, rather than focusing on a diseased part or a labeled sickness.
