Acupuncture for Treating Leaky Gut Syndrome

Acupuncture for Treating Leaky Gut Syndrome

There are a variety of gastrointestinal and autoimmune diseases that can contribute to what is known as leaky gut syndrome. So, what exactly is leaky gut syndrome? It’s close to exactly what it sounds like. Each one of us has semi-permeable guts. What that means is the mucous lining of our intestines is designed to absorb water and nutrients from our food. Your intestinal lining is responsible for acting as a barrier to bacteria. With leaky gut syndrome, your intestinal lining “leaks” allowing more water and nutrients through, but also potentially allowing toxic molecules to come through as well.  continue reading »

The 12 Meridians of the Body Explained

The 12 Meridians of the Body Explained

The meridian system is a phrase that comes up often during acupuncture treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that energy (also referred to as qi) flows throughout the body much like blood does. When this flow of energy becomes disrupted, symptoms and disease can occur. Acupuncture and other forms of Eastern medicine work to restore the flow of energy throughout the body using the meridian system.  continue reading »

Are You Tired and Wired?

Are you Tired and Wired?

Feeling exhausted after a full night’s sleep is not how anyone wants to start their day. Yet, many of us find ourselves dragging through the day, desperately reaching for coffee in the afternoon to stay awake. It almost feels like you could crash at any moment. Then, as if to mock you, you get a sudden burst of energy after dinner. However, this is followed by waking up between 1:00-3:00 am, and struggling to fall back asleep. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. This state of being ‘tired but wired’ is more common than you might think.

Why does this happen?

There are several factors that contribute to this state of constant fatigue and restlessness. The primary culprits are stress, metabolism, and hormones. Stress, both internal and external, can affect your body’s energy levels and sleep patterns. Metabolic factors also play a role. If your body isn’t processing nutrients efficiently, it can lead to feelings of constant tiredness. Hormones are another factor. Hormonal imbalances can significantly impact your energy levels and sleep patterns.

Our Solution

So, how can you break free from this cycle of exhaustion and restlessness? The answer lies in addressing the factors that contribute to this state. This includes managing stress, both internal and external. It’s also important to pay attention to nutrition, as the food you eat can significantly impact your energy levels and sleep patterns. It may also be necessary to address any vitamin and nutrient deficiencies, as these can further contribute to feelings of fatigue. In some cases, hormonal imbalances may need to be addressed. Finally, the quality and quantity of sleep you get is also crucial. Ensuring you get enough restful sleep can go a long way in combating feelings of constant fatigue.

The ‘Tired and Wired’ Kit

To address these issues, we have designed a ‘Tired and Wired’ Kit. This kit includes ‘Calm Day’, which supports our body’s response to stress and has an overall calming effect. The kit also includes ‘Super B Complete’, which supports energy and neurotransmitters. ‘Adrenamax’ is also part of the kit. It supports Adrenal health and contains adaptogenic herbs. Finally, the kit contains ‘Sleep Time’, which helps you fall and stay asleep naturally.

Lifestyle Considerations

In addition to the ‘Tired and Wired’ Kit, there are some lifestyle considerations that can help combat fatigue. Firstly, it’s important to consider how you are feeding your body. Remember, what you put into your body, you get out of it. Eating a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains can significantly improve your energy levels. Secondly, consider how you are managing stress. We all have stress in our lives. How we deal with it can make us feel better or worse. Implementing stress management techniques, such as meditation, yoga, or even simple deep breathing exercises can help. Finally, consider how much sleep you’re getting. Our bodies heal when we are sleeping. Therefore, getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night is essential for our overall health and well-being.
